This idea is a duplicate of this one here (more popular).

it could be great if it would be posible to highlight pdfs online, or store a highlighted version of it

I agree fully, so much of the larger readings and site attachments are now PDF.

I agree with Chris Peltz I that it would be great if Diigo could include PDF support so we could do everything in one tool.

i think pdf annotation support is essential for scientific/scholarly use. it could take the form of a lightweight diigo-friendly pdf reader.

I use Diigo for web annotation and Webnotes for PDF annotation. It would be great if Diigo could include PDF support so I could do everything in one tool.

@Andreas Skielboe
absolutely agree. if Diigo is seriously thinking about "scientific market" this is a absolutely crucial function.... -

How can you use Diigo for research without ever being able to annotate an article from a scientific journal?
I'm lost..

What would also be awesome would be office file upload (word, powerpoint etc) then be able to annotate these files.
There are apps on the web that allow this at the moment. I've coded one myself. This would integrate amazingly with Diigo's current offering.

ONLINE, in-browser ANNOTATION of documents.
Let us upload / 'add' docs to Diigo from browser / toolbar.
Then store annotated PDF (not really as a PDF) on your server for me to access and re-read.

I pretty much agree with what I am already seeing here in comments. Just wanted to add a suggestion. Add an ability to edit scripted pdf file as epub file so those online publishers like amazon etc. can just accept to publish your ebooks, etc. I mean it can be confusing as to just how to organize the pdf file so that amazons engine can accept and just publish in one click. at least for us low tech. saavy types. Think in terms of having a notes in diigo where you have the option of send to epub file or just file away as always.

Integration with pdf's and docs would be fantastic. I have lots of tags which would be so much more powerful if they also picked up the pdf's and docs on my hard drive. e.g. When I look for tag 'metaphysics' there are papers on my drive as well as out on the web that I want to have remembered for me.

Not sure if this is possible without adding in some sort of system DLL to hook the Adobe PDF message pump, but this would be an extremely nice feature.

I suggest a diffrent approach: Annotating PDFs WITH diigo.
Users should be able to pass on a URI of a PDF document to diigo (e.g. through context menu), then the feature should upload the PDF for text extraction and notice the user when it is ready to annotate.
In annotation mode the extracted text should be presented as a HTML page. From that point on it would be the same workflow as a ordinary web page.
