Ideas

Welcome to Diigo Ideas Forum

Do you have an idea? Do you recognize a good idea when you see one? We want to hear from you!

For bug-reporting or general how-to questions, please check the right side of this page and choose “Bugs” or “How-to” forum.

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Ability to label highlight sections: improve print formatting

Looking for smart features that improve print formatting over disparate sources: e.g. ability to designate as a part of highlighting - article date, sub-heading, author, body. The idea being that during report generation those designations can be used to format the output in consistent font, size, color, spacing.

  4. Identify WebPage without HTML Tag

Please take out HTML tag in URL to identify a web page. I like all urls like http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS2/visudet.html#*** to share the same set of annotations.

  5. Sync bookmarks to chrome or xmarks or safari

To really work in tandem with chrome on your PC, it would be great if you could sync bookmarks to xmarks, chrome. Alternatively a sync to safari on iPad - any kind of syncing would be great

  6. Highlights lost on posts on forum pages

I've been using the highlighter to select posts (by their title name) on various discussion forums. However highlighting a post on a page works fine when on that page, but as soon as that post gets moved along by its date to the next forum page, it then loses it highlighted status. So it would be useful to have the highlight move with the post title as well -on to the next page. At present I have to keep re-highlighting all my posts each time they move to another page.

  8. Make help work in simple cases

A newcomer (me) found Diigo unusable due to lack of adequate help. This should be fixed.

  9. Fix the Read Later Fast app - let the users know page can't be saved if not signed in Diigo.

when not signed in and using "Read Later" on a web page, you get a "Page Saved." but it actually won't be saved.

    Sandy_diigoSandy_diigo responded

If you do not sign in to diigo, pages still can be saved. They are saved locally. But if you connect your Read Later Fast with your diigo account, your
staff will also be saved online.

  10. I'd like to be able to block somebody from following me

There is a possibility that, for some reason, you don't want to be followed by a particular person. It would be nice if you could block her like you do for example on Twitter

  11. Two-factor authentication as Premium feature

I am getting increasingly worried about the vulnerability of my accounts on several web services that are getting not only more and more important to me, but downright crucial for my perspectives. Diigo is now turning into that "category", which is a huge complement to this great service. But now that we see that even SSL is not very secure anymore (easy to get hold of open-source tools to fetch others' passwords passed over SSL on the same network, for example in public Wi-fi hotspots), I want to pay extra to be able to secure my account from hi-jacking. Less…

  13. Title of my library not to include "public library"

I am using Diigo to create a list for students and teachers of my institution. We are NOT a public library, but many of my clients are suprised the words "public library" appear after the name of our institution, on the top of my list of links. Could you just let us write the title we want, for our library?

  14. "retrieved" field

When preparing a report you should include the date in which the original article/link was accessed. Common formats (e.g. APA style) for this type of quotations, in fact, include the word Retrieved followed by the date.

  16. I'm trying to send to blog using the firefox toolbar and the instructions are useless

Almost none of the menu items are showing up, there's no information on how to set them up... seriously, it's just awful. Can we get some help pages for firefox users?

  18. Items to show in a list

It would be nice if once you set a list to show 100 items that it stayed that way.

  19. organize bookmarks with hierachical tagging

The idea behind tagging is very good but it lacks some good qualities found in the folder-like system. And that is to be able to brake down a huge collection of items to easily find and organize them. Tags succeed where folders fail and that is to assign an item multiple attributes, instead of having multiple copies of the same object, but once the collection of tags grows, the tag system simulates a folder with dozens or even more folders, which of course is unpleasant. The best option in my opinion lies in allowing tags to include other tags, providing…
