Ideas

Welcome to Diigo Ideas Forum

Do you have an idea? Do you recognize a good idea when you see one? We want to hear from you!

For bug-reporting or general how-to questions, please check the right side of this page and choose “Bugs” or “How-to” forum.

I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".
(thinking…)

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

  1. Search for both tag parts

If a tag consists of two parts, for example a name (Friedrich Schiller), it would be helpful, if the automatic tag suggestion would recognize both parts, i.e. would also suggest the specific tag if I just tip in Schiller, or Goethe, if I refer to the tag "Johann Wolfgang von Goethe"

  3. Create hierarchy tags, how a tree

For example: Web → css, web → html, html → text tags and etc.
And as addition, association links with other tags (example: XSS → Web Security, XSS → Scripting) without hierarchy

  4. PDF annotation in offline (third-party) editors w/ sync to Diigo

The PDF browser/annotator in Diigo leaves much to be desired. There are much better PDF viewer apps such as Skim.app or Highlights.app. It would be great to be able to annotate in these apps, and then sync up to Diigo. This would require a desktop sync function, which is discussed here: http://feedback.diigo.com/forums/76211-ideas/suggestions/1063989-desktop-sync-a-la-evernote

But this assumes that there would be some native Diigo app for desktop. I'm asking to allow integration with other apps that do a better job than Diigo's PDF browser.

  5. Include hyperlink back to original source in outliner notes

When you convert your annotations from a source, they are imported into an outliner as individual bullets, which is great. The only problem that, if you move those bullets around, there is no way to tell the original source. It would be good if each bullet included a link back to the original source, internally, so that no matter where that bullet is in the outline, it's possible to get back to its origin. This shouldn't be hard to do at all.

  6. Change the view options

Put some buttons for change the view options of my Library. For example, it could be a great idea if I could see my video stuff like other video sites, with the thumbnails and the title and other data below.

  7. Library options- list or a grid view, with thumbnails. You can reserve bigger photos as thumbnails for premium users.

For free enable at least a smaller but visible screenshot. You can allow text or image as a thumbnail.
I've found Diigo for my bookmark organization, I like it, highlights are great for preview, but I was actually looking for something with tidy Pinterest-like view, for private use only and for more than just photos.

  10. Make a professional-looking "Outlier" function for static lists (Like lists originally were).

Make a version of Outliners that looks more like a professional website that I can share with clients and colleagues (like lists were).

  14. Enable selective disabling of Diigo extension on sites

There are some sites I never use Diigo on - e.g. Gmail and Facebook. I'd like to have an option for Diigo not to load on specific sites (e.g. tabs). This would lower the overall memory requirements of the browser (due to not having to load Diigo for that tab) and would also reduce compatibility issues (which are very rare, but still occur, for example, on codeacademy.com, the placement of the three button floating option is sometimes unfortunate).

  15. list my bookmarks for a certain site from extension

I sometimes want to know what other pages I've bookmarked from the site I'm currently browsing. This can be done now, but it's cumbersome: copy URL, paste into Diigo's search box (in extension or site) and trim URL to just the domain.

Can we have a button for this? I suggest users click the "Search in Diigo" menu item from the extension, then the button (or two buttons--"show all for this site" and "limit search to this site") at top of that search box

  16. Upgrade Outliner with Rich Text Capability and/or Pre-formatted Report Templates

Currently, I am using outliner to organize information by topic. However, outliner in its current form is limited in that you can't further organize the information into a report. If Outliner were to have richt text capabilities and/or pre-formatted report templates, I can definitely see Outliner increasing my productivity since I can then share the information right from outliner vs. copying information from Outliner into MS Word/OneNote for further editing.

  17. Export Diigo entries to Scapple and other mind-mapping software

It would be great if we could easily export Diigo entries (all or selectable) to mind-mapping programs such as Scapple.

  18. delicious import failed

    Hello,

According to this help page [1], when I import my bookmarks from
delicious, the tags should be preserved:

Will my bookmarks be preserved as I move from Delicious to Diigo?

Yes, tags, title, description and privacy will all be preserved.

I followed the steps, exported my delicious bookmarks to HTML, and
imported them to Diigo. I receievd the confirmation mail on 8 July:

Welcome to Diigo! Your bookmarks were imported to Diigo. You can check
    them at http://www.diigo.com/user/edburns_diigo .

Your tag cloud may still require more processing and will be available
    shortly.

As of today, Monday, 13 July, the…

  19. Fix the updateOutliners problem

Sometimes when testing a web site I'm developing, the console shows "Q.updateOutliners is not a function". Looking at the relevant code suggests that makes sense, because "updateOutliners" only appears once n the script. Could this be fixed?

  20. Show the related tags in the "submit a new bookmark" window and improve "recommended" tags

Tagging a lot of bookmarks everyday is not easy with this windows as it is now.

I'd like to have a feature that shows the related bookmarks, either by the community or by me, so it would be easier to reuse bookmarks I always use together.

"Recommended" tags are not very useful, they would be more useful if, instead of being generated from the word in the title, they could be generated from the bookmarks used by the community to tag the page when it have already been tagged before.
